Kai’s World

A new month begins, and Kai opens their Hobonichi planner once again. The blank monthly squares feel calm at first, yet full of possibility. Soon, though, they’ll hold reminders, goals, and plans that make the days meaningful. As always, Mumu watches from the edge of the desk, playing with one of Kai’s pens, before curling into a soft ball of fur.

First, Kai lays down the stickers. They place illustrated panels the cover the spaces that don’t belong to the month. After that, the days of the week fill the top rows in English, Japanese and Korean. Then come the icons marking birthdays, appointments and a social day out to the bookshop. Gradually, the page fills with colour and rhythm. For Kai, Rest isn’t about stopping; rather, it’s about slowing down enough to see where each moment belongs.
